The house
Description
Vestry House is an invented property created to demonstrate how this practice presents a large bayfront asset. In the concept, the house sits low and wide on a protected stretch of bay, with the entire principal floor turned east toward the water and a service spine tucked behind a teak screen.
The plan separates gathering from retreat with unusual discipline. A single 46-foot room holds the kitchen, dining and sitting areas without a partition, while the primary suite occupies its own wing beyond a walled courtyard planted with sea grape and silver buttonwood.
Materially the concept is restrained: coquina stone, unfinished teak, lime plaster and a great deal of glass detailed to disappear. It is the kind of house our fictional advisory would photograph at dawn and describe in two pages rather than ten.
